The Orchid Telematics Control Unit (TCU) and accessories are installed covertly in any vehicle in around two hours. The unit is then set up remotely from our operations centre with the configurations and settings for the solutions that you require.

The vehicle data and mobile resource information that is generated by the unit is converted into intelligent user-friendly information. This can be viewed in the Orchid Fleet Management Software from your office, or when you are mobile, through the web-enabled Orchidtrak site. Access to information is fully controlled through the allocation of security rights and fleets can be set up in cost centres or groups that meet your organisation’s requirements.

The TCU can be configured to send data automatically to the secure Global Telematics Hub or only when a specific event (such as a collision) occurs. Either way, we will be able to provide you with real-time information using satellite tracking for accurate positioning, as well as superior mobile resource management. We monitor your vehicles when you can’t – especially in the event of a hijacking or breach of security.

Product reliability and stability
For over a decade, Orchid’s products have had a proven track record. Our telematics control unit’s firmware is fully upgradeable and configurable remotely via GPRS, eliminating vehicle down time. The unit can be set to conduct health checks at predefined periods and report the health status of the unit. We will notify you via email with any recorded issues.

Reduce fuel and vehicle maintenance costs
Monitor behaviours that result in excessive idling, fuel consumption and vehicle wear and tear such as speed and RPM profiling, harsh braking and acceleration. In-cab speed warnings alert drivers that they are exceeding defined parameters.

Viewing and accessing your fleet

Sophisticated mapping technology, together with our interface to Google Earth, allows you to view the exact location of any vehicle to within metres. Our dynamic on-screen vehicle labelling provides a visual status update of every vehicle in real-time.

Increase vehicle and driver safety
We keep an eye on your fleet and drivers 24/7/365, monitoring emergency alarms and pre-agreed events such as low battery levels or tampering. Geofencing protects against unauthorised tow away and in-cab communication allows you to chat to your drivers instantly. Remote and in-cab panic buttons alert the control room to an emergency.

Driver identification, monitoring and training
Driver identification tags provide enhanced security, eliminate unauthorised use and enable you to proactively analyse driver behaviour and vehicle abuse. Speed and RPM data per driver or per vehicle is also stored. Easy-to-use scorecards and driver debriefing reports assist with training and driver incentive programmes.

Take control of your fleet
Create zones such as customer sites, no-go zones and speed zones. Defined event alerts such as route deviations, check-points, cargo door sensors and PTO sensing sent via SMS can also be configured. The Impact Detection and Black Box functionality allows you to analyse the events leading up to an accident.

Enhance administration functions
Our Driver Identification Module enables you to manage driving hours and overtime. Driver and vehicle license renewal dates are effectively controlled using the reporting functionality. Manage and plan vehicle servicing based on time, distance or hours used.

Improve customer service efficiencies
Load customer sites and plan vehicle routes. You can monitor your deliveries with Orchid’s checkpoint functionality and customise reporting to measure your on-time delivery ensuring you avoid loading delays and potential penalties.

Comprehensive management reporting
In addition to a standard reporting suite, customised reports and dashboards can be created. The Report Scheduler allows you to automatically choose reports and schedule when these are run i.e. Breakfast reports. Driver and vehicle performance scorecards can be reviewed at a group, branch or depot level and customer-on-site reporting facilitates the efficient measurement of your service levels.

Integrate data into your own system
Orchid’s Fleet Interface System allows you to export vehicle data such as odometer, fuel consumption, customer delivery points, PTO sensor and other input activations to your existing back office systems.

You will be assigned a Customer Account Manager who is a phone call away. In addition, our Client Service Centre staff are also available to deal with all queries. The Orchid Alarm Response Centre is open 24/7/365 monitoring your fleet and our technical field engineers will install the software in your business and provide on-site training.
